Pixar Animation Studios has always been one of the top animation studios in the industry, producing 17 quality movies since 1995. All of their movies are great, but what are the best ones? Here is my list of the top 5 Disney Pixar movies of all time.
This is probably going to be the biggest surprise on my list because I think it is one of the most underrated animated movies ever made. When people talk about the best movies from Pixar Animation Studios, this classic from 2007 usually gets left out of the discussion. However, with a Rotten Tomatoes critic score of 96%, Ratatouille definitely deserves its spot on my list. Director Brad Bird did a great job in making this movie the perfect blend of children's comedy with a quality storyline that any audience can enjoy. As most Pixar movies are, Ratatouille is always a fantastic choice for family movie night and will leave all audiences with a smile on their face.
4. Monsters Inc.
Monsters Inc. is the 2001 animated feature film that stole the hearts of families around the world. This Pete Doctor classic is about a pair of monsters that have to work together to save a little girl that gets stuck in the monster world. The familiar voices of Billy Crystal and John Goodman have us laughing in our seats from start to end. It was so immensely popular that it inspired that making of the prequel, Monsters University, which released in 2013.
3. Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3 is living proof that sequels aren't always worse than the originals. In this adventure, Andy is going to college and he ends up donating Buzz and the gang to a local day care. However, when they get there, they realize that it isn't all fun and games. The toys need to find a way to escape and get back to Andy's room. This movie has a great blend of comedy and conflict that keep it interesting for the parents without being too intense for the extremely young audiences. The near perfection of Toy Story 3 was clearly noticed by the critics, as it boasts a 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.
2. Inside Out
This is the most recently released of any of the movies on my list, hitting the theaters in 2015. It is once again the brainchild of legendary Pixar director Pete Doctor and features the voice talents of Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, and many other recognizable names. The concept of the movie is very unique. The plot surrounds the emotions of a young girl named Riley. Her emotions are personified into 5 distinct characters and the movie shows what those emotion characters are having to deal with while Riley goes through some trying times in her childhood. Inside Out is probably the most emotional and heartwarming family film the Pixar has ever produced. It has plenty of comedy to make you laugh, but it also has enough emotion to make someone cry.
1. The Incredibles
We have reached my all-time favorite Disney Pixar Movie, The Incredibles. This movie has absolutely everything that a family movie could ask for. It follows a family of supers as the learn to work together to save their city. The storyline of the film is loaded with plot points that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. There are also plenty of moments that could make you laugh yourself out of your seat completely. For children and family alike, this Brad Bird masterpiece is 116 minutes of purely enjoyable film.
