I have been writing professionally since graduating from Dickinson College with a BA in English in 2007. First, I held a reporting job for the Fairfield Citizen-News in Connecticut for a year and a half. Halfway through my time there, I was given editing duties as well.
From there I took a full-time writing and editing position at MediaGlobal in the United Nations Secretariat. I reported on topics ranging from celebrity causes in Africa and climate migration, to health care in the least developed countries of the world. I edited both the weekly newsletter and the quarterly magazine.
I've written in many mediums as well; on top of newspapers, I've self-published two young adult novels, one of which was given the Barnes and Noble Rising Star Award in 2009.
